To describe the Windows 2000 installation process, options, and how to upgrade to Windows 2000 from other operating systems

Target Audience
Students preparing for Microsoft exam 70-215 and/or 70-210

Prerequisites
Working knowledge of Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT Workstation 4.0 from administrative, support, and architectural perspectives

Windows 2000 - Installation

  • name the hardware and system requirements for installing Windows 2000 either for workgroups or domains, and determine the type of software licensing required.
  • describe how to install Windows 2000 and name the different options for Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2000 Professional.
  • identify how to install Windows 2000 across a network.
  • recognize the functions of the Sysprep tool and how it is used for cloning, and identify the steps in preparing a hard disk for imaging.
  • identify how to automate the setup process and use the Setup Manager to create an answer file to automate the installation.
  • use the Setup Manager to create an answer file specifying unattended mode and organizational settings, and to specify domain time zone and installation settings for the answer file.
