Lesson Objectives

IP Mobility

  • identify the drawbacks of Mobile IP with rapidly moving mobile nodes and the advantages of using micromobility protocols to support Mobile IP.
  • identify the purpose of hierarchical IP and the processes involved in its operation.
  • identify the mechanisms and processes that enable movement of mobile nodes efficiently within a visited IP domain using TeleMIP.
  • differentiate between Hierarchical Mobile IP and TeleMIP.
  • identify the methods used in HAWAII to enable the movement of mobile nodes efficiently within visited IP domains.
  • identify the methods used in Cellular IP to enable the movement of mobile nodes efficiently within and between Cellular IP networks.
  • match the processes and architectural components used to enable the movement of mobile nodes efficiently within and between visited IP domains using Edge Mobility Architecture.
  • differentiate between HAWAII, Cellular IP, and EMA.
