Overview/Description
To configure router voice ports, identify how to monitor and troubleshoot voice ports, recognize factors affecting analog voice quality, and configure voice interface settings for optimal voice quality

Target Audience
IT professionals responsible for preparing, configuring, and maintaining a voice and data network; candidates preparing for the Cisco Certified Voice Professional certification (CVOICE 642-432)

Prerequisites
Working knowledge of LANs, WANs, and IP switching and routing; an understanding of traditional public switched telephone network operations and technologies; internetworking skills covered in the Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices (ICND) course; Cisco Voice Fundamentals (CVF) v1.0 e-learning course completion

Configuring Voice Interfaces

  • identify the different types of voice port applications within a voice network.
  • identify configurable parameters on the FXS, FXO, and E&M ports, and recognize the timing parameters applicable to voice interfaces.
  • identify the configuration parameters specific to the T1, E1, and ISDN voice ports, and recognize how to configure Transparent Common Channel Signaling (T-CCS) in a VoIP environment.
  • configure analog FXS port parameters and digital T1 interface parameters for voice.
  • recognize how the show, test and debug commands are used to monitor and troubleshoot voice ports.
  • list the factors affecting analog voice quality, recognize common decibel levels, and identify considerations for baselining input and output power levels.
  • recognize the factors involved in voice-quality tuning, and identify the function of voice-quality tuning configuration parameters and echo cancellation configuration parameters.
