To recognize how to configure, monitor, and troubleshoot SIP and MGCP on a Cisco router, and determine the best call control model for a network
Target Audience
IT professionals responsible for preparing, configuring, and maintaining a voice and data network; candidates preparing for the Cisco Certified Voice Professional certification (CVOICE 642-432)
Prerequisites
Working knowledge of LANs, WANs, and IP switching and routing; an understanding of traditional public switched telephone network operations and technologies; internetworking skills covered in the Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices (ICND) course; Cisco Voice Fundamentals (CVF) v1.0 e-learning course completion

identify the configuration commands used to implement SIP call setup models, and the commands used to provide support for monitoring and troubleshooting SIP.
recognize the function of MGCP and identify its associated standards, components, endpoints, gateways, and agents.
identify basic MGCP concepts, recognize how end-to-end calls are established, list MGCP call control messages, recognize the steps involved in the MGCP call flow process, and identify robust design strategies for MGCP.
identify the commands used to configure an MGCP residential gateway and trunk gateway on a Cisco router, and recognize the commands used to monitor and troubleshoot MGCP.
compare the standards bodies, architectures, features, capabilities, and strengths of the H.323, SIP, and MGCP call control models.
match each call control model to the appropriate set of requirements.
select the most appropriate call control model for a given set of requirements.
