To identify voice quality issues in IP networks and recognize how to improve voice quality by implementing QoS

Target Audience
IT professionals responsible for preparing, configuring, and maintaining a voice and data network; candidates preparing for the Cisco Certified Voice Professional certification (CVOICE 642-432)

Prerequisites
Working knowledge of LANs, WANs, and IP switching and routing; an understanding of traditional public switched telephone network operations and technologies; internetworking skills covered in the Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices (ICND) course; Cisco Voice Fundamentals (CVF) v1.0 e-learning course completion

  • identify the problems presented by jitter, delay, and packet loss in an IP network, and recognize how Cisco deals with each of these problems.
  • distinguish between voice quality measurement standards and recognize why PESQ is the preferred method of testing voice quality in VoIP networks.
  • recognize the objectives of QoS and identify the network areas in which QoS is used to improve voice quality in Cisco networks.
