Overview/Description
This course presents an overview of positive displacement pumps. It is intended to provide you with the ability to recognize various types of positive displacement pumps and become familiar with their characteristics and operation. The content in this course is designed to comply with the intent of the applicable regulatory requirements.
Learner objectives are to: describe the characteristics of positive displacement pumps; specify differences between positive displacement pumps and centrifugal pumps; explain the importance of viscosity as it relates to the operation of positive displacement pumps and how they are protected against over-pressurization; and identify positive displacement pumps as one of the following: reciprocating pump, power pump, rotary pump, gear pump, lobe pump, vane pump, peristaltic pump, two-screw type pump, three-screw type pump, diaphragm pump.
Target Audience
Personnel working with or around positive displacement pumps
