The purpose of site control is to reduce the potential contamination to workers, the general public, and the environment from hazardous waste sites. Site control is especially important in emergency situations, and the methods and degree of control required will depend on factors such as the size of the site, its characteristics, and the surrounding community. In order to control a site, various procedures are implemented to manage it. This course is designed to comply with the intent of the applicable regulatory requirements, specifically the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's, or OSHA's, Hazardous Waste Operation and Emergency Response regulation, commonly referred to as HAZWOPER. This course was developed and reviewed with subject matter support provided by certified subject matter experts and industry professionals.
