Consulting is the process by which an individual or firm assists a client to achieve a stated outcome. Companies hire consultants because they need help. Maybe they need to revamp the company's health insurance policy, set up a hiring committee, or launch a marketing campaign. They call on consultants because they are subject-matter experts in their respective fields. They can come into an organization, diagnose problems, and work with the client to find solutions to those problems.
