Controls in forms provide the framework through which data is input. The type of control determines the type of data that can be entered. You can type in the values manually in a text box or select from a predefined list of options or values. InfoPath provides features to dynamically create the list of values from which a user can make a selection, by linking the control to data sources. Similarly, controls will also have to be bound to data sources so that the values entered through them are saved in the required format.
