This course is designed to familiarize you with the health implications associated with ionizing radiation, and measures that can be used to protect you from radiation exposure. There is a significant health risk to workers if radiation sources are not properly controlled. The content in this course is designed to comply with the intent of the applicable regulatory requirements. Learner objectives are to: identify the various types of ionizing radiation, recognize sources of radiation exposure, identify the possible effects of radiation exposure on your health, specify the methods and instruments used to detect ionizing radiation, specify measures to protect workers, and define both sealed and unsealed sources of ionizing radiation. The course was developed and reviewed with subject matter support provided by certified subject matter experts and industry professionals.
