This course discusses the deployment and execution of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages. Once packages have been created, they must be deployed to a production server. This course gives an overview of the package deployment options available, the preparations of packages for deployment using package configurations, and the creation of a deployment utility. It also covers the methods used to install packages once deployed to the server, including the use of the Package Installation Wizard. The course also discusses the methods for running packages from within BIDS and using the DTExec command utility, and outlines how to schedule package execution using SQL Server Agent jobs. Also discussed are the methods and tools available to monitor and secure Integration Services and SSIS packages. This includes an overview of the logging feature and how to use it to enable logging on packages, the event handling process in Integration Services, and the debugging options used. The course also describes best practices for securing packages during development, deployment, and operation using roles, package protection levels, and digital certificates.
