Overview/Description
The Windows 8 operating system user interface has changed. With the introduction of the new Start screen and immersive applications, Microsoft introduces another support layer for the IT administrator. The new emphasis on touch functionality alters how you will interact with Windows, while the screen architecture and mechanics introduce a new way of working with Windows. In this course, the new architectural interface elements of Windows 8 will be examined and demonstrated. There are various considerations to consider when preparing to install Windows 8 such as choosing the correct version, verifying the system requirements, understanding your options for installation targets, as well as deployment sources. This course provides an overview of the various Windows 8 installation components including WIM images, the setup executable, the Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE), the boot environment, and answer files. You can perform a basic clean install on a new system, but Windows 8 can also be installed to an existing computer as a dual boot – either using another partition or by installing Windows 8 to a Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) or native VHD/VHDX boot. This course applies to objectives of the 70-687: Configuring Windows 8 exam of the MCSA: Windows 8 designation. Please note this course is based on the original Windows 8 release.
