Overview/Description
The Windows 8 operating system can be upgraded from Window XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and another version of Windows 8. Windows 8 can also be installed to a new computer, over an existing operating Windows operating system, to another partition for dual boot, and to a VHD disk. Microsoft provides several tools for customizing Windows 8 installations, and tools to migrate data from Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 to Windows 8. Windows 8 can also be hosted on a USB drive – the Windows to Go feature allows you to boot to Windows from one or more computers. This course focuses on creating custom WIM images, working with WinPE, automating installations with answer files, and using ADK and DISM for customizations. It also discusses the upgrade and migration options available, including key tools to facilitate the process. This course applies to objectives of the 70-687: Configuring Windows 8 exam of the MCSA: Windows 8 designation. Please note this course is based on the original Windows 8 release.
