Overview/Description
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA is a bacterium that causes infections in humans. MRSA infection usually takes the form of a skin infection or infection of soft tissues. Meningococcal disease refers to a group of diseases caused by the bacteria Neisseria meningitides commonly referred to as just meningococcus. Meningococcus can cause bacterial meningitis, inflammation of the brain or spinal cord, and sometimes pneumonia. In this impact series, Dr. Ava Dykes talks about MRSA and meningococcal disease.
