Overview/Description
Millions of people in the United Kingdom use natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), for a wide range of both domestic and commercial applications. Accordingly, large numbers of workers participate in storing and supplying the gas, and in installing, servicing and repairing gas appliances, fittings and pipes. Natural gas and LPG burn more cleanly than other fossil fuels and are comparatively inexpensive. However, they're highly flammable gases and, if they're used improperly, can result in deadly fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning. In this course, you'll learn about the dangers posed by natural gas and LPG in the workplace. You'll be introduced to the legislation and standards that regulate gas safety, and to the requirements individuals must meet before they may work on gas appliances. You'll also learn important guidelines for preventing gas accidents, storing LPG and responding to gas emergencies in the workplace.
