Overview/Description
Enterprises use databases to store their most critical data. To protect and ensure the data's availability, database administrators need to establish a solid backup and restoration plan. Such plans are used to protect data in the event of a disaster by allowing complete sets of duplicate data to be restored in a timely fashion. There are multiple types of backups that can be taken to ensure the recovery of data, including a full recovery or a point-in-time recovery. SQL Server 2008 R2 also offers database snapshots, which can be used to revert a database to a specific point when the snapshot was taken. This helps to store historical data and provides protection against administrative errors. This course demonstrates how to perform backup and recovery operations, as well as how to create database snapshots and revert to a database snapshot. This course is one of a series in the SkillSoft learning path that covers the objectives for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 exam number 70-432. Passing this exam will earn the learner the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Implementation and Maintenance certification.
