Overview/Description
Microsoft offers many deployment tools for deploying Windows 7 throughout entire networks. Deciding which tool to use depends on many factors, including network configuration, cost, and down-time. Windows Deployment Services, one of the tools available, can be used to install Windows 7 directly over the network, without using the installation media directly at each client machine. When deploying Windows 7 throughout the network, administrators need to consider how they will preserve the user files and settings on each client computer. Microsoft offers user state migration tools that enable the administrator to store the user data in a specified location until Windows 7 is deployed, when that user data can be restored. This course demonstrates how to deploy Windows 7 over the network using Windows Deployment Services. It also demonstrates how to use Windows Easy Transfer and the User State Migration Tool to migrate user state data and then restore it after Windows 7 is deployed. This course is one of a series in the SkillSoft learning path that covers the objectives for the Microsoft exam: 70-686. Pro: Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Administrator. Passing this exam will earn the learner Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Administrator certification.
